This April marks a major milestone in the fabricating industry – Bug-O Systems is celebrating its 75th anniversary. For three-quarters of a century, Bug-O has been leading the way with innovative and reliable technology for industrial mechanization. From simple welding automation to complex cutting systems, our company continually strives to provide high-performance products that make fabrication easier and more accurate.
As we commemorate our history, let’s take some time to look back at our achievements over the last seven decades and explore what makes Bug-O such an invaluable resource for fabricators today.
Company History
Bug-O Systems traces its origin back to 1948. It all began with a revolutionary motion control concept developed by Everett Livesay during World War II for Higgins Industries, a shipbuilder in Louisiana. The original Livesay Multipurpose Machines were used to produce an impressive 700 boats per month. BUG-O started selling the Livesay machines and acquired the patent rights to the original concept from Everett Livesay in 1958. An extensive redesign process followed and the first BUG-O units were sold in 1959. Since then, Bug-O has continued to drive productivity and profitability with its efficient cutting and welding systems.
Today, our machines are widely used in shipbuilding, construction, fabricating, and other industries. Our mechanized Equipment is designed to produce accurate cuts while maintaining safety standards that protect our customers’ workers. Moreover, we also provide comprehensive customer support and training for our machines, allowing users to maximize their potential.
Features and Application of Bug-O Products
BUG-O Systems’ machines are not only economical and versatile, but they also offer unparalleled accuracy of motion. This makes them especially attractive to shipbuilders, fabricators, and the construction industry, which need precisely controlled cutting and welding operations for maximum efficiency and profitability.
Our products are used in oxy-fuel or plasma cutting and beveling, carbon arc or plasma gouging, GMAW or Submerged Arc Welding, flame spraying, and nondestructive inspection (NDT) testing.
We are known and used in many different types of steel fabrication industries, including shipbuilding, pressure vessel manufacturing, rail car manufacturing, structural steel fabricating, mechanical contracting, steel supply and service centers, and anyone who welds or cuts metals as part of their product or service.
Industries We Have Served Since 1948
The industries that Bug-O Systems has served since 1948 include shipbuilding, pipeline construction, power generation, pressure vessel welding and fabrication, tank fabrication, structural steel fabrication, highway construction and resurfacing/rebuilding.
We have also worked with many metalworking companies in the transportation industry to provide mechanization services for their rail cars, buses, and other vehicles. Our machines are used to cut and weld metals as well as coatings such as aluminum or stainless steel panels.
